Eagle Bronze Welding & Assembly Team

Bill Freese and the team of Eagle Bronze welders brought the bronze cast parts of the Spirit Warriors together in one complete piece in their workshop in Lander, Wyoming. After assembling the 4500 lb. sculpture, a steel crib was constructed and welded to the sculpture for transport to the battlefield. The steel crib weighed as much as the sculpture and both were placed on a flatbed to transport the sculpture laying down.

Site Contractors

Craig Feldman, architect, site supervisor

Craig Feldman is the site supervisor overseeing the construction of the memorial. He is responsible for the construction updates at the Little Bighorn Battlefield website. Managing the construction of the memorial also included managing on going public relations with the throng of visitors who must know more about the site and do not recognize construction fences as barriers. Lucky for them, Craig is knowledgeable about the site, history and local culture. By Memorial Day 2003 access to the aboriginal memorial will be open to the public.

Bernard Pease Masonry Co., stone masons

Bernard Pease and Company spent the year building the earthen structure and laying stonework throughout the site. A local company, the Pease brothers, Bernard and Anson have deep ties to the local area. Bernard is a veteran of the US 7th Cavalry from the Korean conflict in which he received a silver star. Somewhere in all that earth and stone, Bernard left a big cheque for the curious excavator, treasure seeker. As the Spirit Warriors sculpture was put in place behind the platform, the stone workers completed laying the flagstones on the platform. Mysterious symbols appeared in the stones and then disappeared within a day.
